Localization
We feel a sense of frustration with the word “translation”, because translation is not simply a conversion from text to text, from language to language; it also requires understanding and conveying differences in background and culture.
Sachiko, who spent her childhood in Thailand, studied in the United States during high school, and moved to Finland as an adult, has a strong foundation in Japanese, her native language, and also works as a writer.
Her translations are characterized by their readability, a hallmark of a writer’s work. Her writing reflects a balanced perspective, combining the viewpoint of a Japanese person who has lived in Finland for over 20 years with the perspective of Japanese readers living in Japan.
She began her translation career over 25 years ago, while working at the Japanese branch of a US company in Tokyo. In Finland, an interview with former President Sauli Niinistö led to her taking on translation work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
From interviews, writing, translation, and interpreting to supporting entry into the Japanese and Finnish markets, we provide comprehensive support from start to finish.
